England Won a Series After 17 Years in Sri Lanka | Pakistan on The Brink of Victory.
Sri Lanka started the day needing 75 runs to win the match with 3 wickets in hand but they could only manage 17 runs and lost the match in the first hour of play. It was spinners again who did the trick with Moeen Ali being the best bowler of the day who took 2 out of 3 wickets to fell. Jack Leach got his first fifer this morning when he took the catch of Pushpakumara of his own bowling. Again the spinners shared all the wickets falling in the innings. Source Joe Root was adjudged Man of the Match for scoring 124 runs in the second innings. Akila Dananjaya and Jack Leach both took 8 wickets in the match. This was first series win for England in Sri Lanka after a gap of 17 years, they won a test series in 2001 prior to this one. This was also first defeat in Tests as a captain for Suranga Lakmal. Both sides will meet again on 23rd of November for the final test of the series. Source In another test match being played in Abu Dhabi, New Zealand started their day on 56/1. Jeet Raval and Kane Williamson continued the good work of yesterday and looked comfortable during the early hour of the day. But soon the collapse started with the fall of Williamson's wicket as they lost two more wickets in a quick succession. Pakistan saw this as an opportunity as both the set batsmen, Jeet Raval and Kane Williamson were back in the hut but couldn't capitalise. Henry Nicholas and B J Watling came together and started the revival process. They seemed in control and played their "A" game and succeeded in compiling a partnership of 112 runs. Both the batsmen brought up their half centuries before both of them were outclassed by Yasir Shah. It didn't take Pakistan much time to get rid of the tail as the last 5 wickets were only able to add 29 more runs. Source For Pakistan both Hasan Ali and Yasir Shah took fifers. Hasan Ali was very impressive along with Mohammad Abbas but unfortunately Mohammad Abbas was unlucky in terms of adding some wickets to his name. It was Hasan Ali's first five wicket haul while Yasir Shah added 14th to his name. Pakistan came out to bat in the second innings needing 176 runs and added 37 runs without loosing a wicket at the end of day's play. Pakistan are in a strong position and should get over the line within the first two sessions tomorrow. However, you never know, Pakistan are the most unpredictable team in the world and if New Zealand bowl well, they can cause trouble to Pakistanis.
